When was the last time you felt like you had no money? Most of us would say pretty often. Whether applied to business or personal or both, there are things we are doing that are making us broke – or at least feel broke. No cash in your wallet or paying for car repairs on credit are two popular answers. Here are our five reasons you might be (or at least feel) broke:
- Cash Budget: Find the happy medium of cash to carry. Include budgeted items such as groceries, eating out and gas as THE weekly cash withdrawal. No more and no less. If you go over in one area of your budget you’ve got to find a way to make up for it elsewhere.
- Cut the Cards: Americans using debit or credit cards spend as much as 20% more than if they had used cash. That can add up quickly!
- Quit the smoking: It’s not only costing your life it’s costing you money — and lots of it!
- Bring your lunch to work rather than eating out. Watch your savings grow.
- Emergency Funds: Having an emergency fund will give you peace of mind when events like a layoff happens. This fund is to be used for necessities like food and shelter. Rather than paying expenses with a credit card you will have cash ready.
Making small changes to money matters is key to not feeling like you have no money.
